The Corrales Community Library serves Corrales, NM, a community of approximately 7300 located in Sandoval County, New Mexico. Corrales is nestled on the western shore of the Rio Grande approximately fifteen miles north of Albuquerque. The library is located at 84 W La Entrada in Corrales.
The Corrales Community Library operated from 1957 to 1971 on a limited budget derived from fundraising activities plus a yearly sum of money for books from Sandoval County. Since the Village of Corrales was incorporated in 1971, the library has been included in the village budget.
The original building was built on village land almost entirely by a volunteer force of Corrales residents in 1979. An addition which now houses the Children's Room was completed in 1993 with funds from various sources, including state and county funding. In 2001, another addition provided room for a study area, computer lab and office space. The most recent addition, completed in May 2006, created a Young Adult Room. The last two additions were funded by Sandoval County Bond issues.
The library is staffed by four employees who are assisted by more than sixty volunteers. Volunteers work on the circulation desk, process books, perform cataloging duties, and repair library materials. We are grateful for their dedicated support.
